A virus spreading on the Internet replaces the owner's crypto wallet address when copied. It intercepts the clipboard's contents, replacing several numbers in the copied wallet addresses. One of these types of viruses is called Trojan.Coinbitclip.
In order to minimize the risks of losing assets, follow these recommendations:
- Use licensed anti-virus software with updated databases. We recommend using full-featured (paid) versions of anti-viruses.
- Carefully check and compare the crypto wallet address you copied with the one you see on a website or other source.
- Instead of copying the wallet address, use the QR code scan to get it.
- Be careful when opening files and links from unknown sources. Viruses often spread through infected files or links.
- Use a hardware wallet to store large amounts of assets. Hardware wallets are the most secure way to store cryptocurrencies. They are not connected to the Internet and are not subject to attacks from outside.
- Regularly update your operating system, browsers, and other programs to fix vulnerabilities that attackers can exploit.
Be careful and always take precautions!
